5 Productivity Tips for a Productive Week
Why have a productive week?
Chances are you came to this blog post because you want to have a productive week. So I believe you know the answer to this question.
I just want to take this time to say, way to go! Many people may praise procrastination and being lazy, but in actuality, we don’t really desire to be like that.
It’s so frustrating that you want to get so many things done, but don’t complete even one. You get too distracted by watching movies, scrolling through your phone…A LOT, or doing other activities that are not necessary.
In the beginning, you think it’s okay to do it since you have time, but when you are done, you feel great regret…You try to justify it saying it’s okay it’s just one time, but then you do it again.
IT’S SO DISCOURAGING AND FRUSTRATING!
That doesn’t have to be you anymore! You can do this, especially with The Organized Youth Worker by your side.
Know that you are on the way to becoming productive. It’s wayy cool to be productive and get things done.
Don’t listen to that voice telling you to be lazy and procrastinate.
I share more reasons on how to stop procrastinating here (LINK) along with some very inexpensive products on Amazon that have helped me so much in my “Best Products to Stop Procrastination.” I’ll also mention a few in this article.
Well here you go….
7 Productivity Tips for a Productive Week
Productivity Tip #1: Plan on Sunday
This has saved me so much time! This is probably the best productivity tip that I have listed here (besides #5 😉 ). I realized that it saves me so much more time than I could imagine and helped me greatly with my time management.
If I plan on Monday, then already a whole morning and day is gone. The best is to plan on Sunday since is the day before the work week starts. When you do this, then you feel so clear and focused how you want to spend your week.
How to plan?
Start off by getting some simple tools to help you get organized on Sunday.
I start with my Bullet Journal. I love Bullet Journaling! Bullet Journaling doesn’t have to be expensive, time consuming, or complex. You can make it real simple.
I use very simple products for my Bullet Journal that you can see in my “How to Start Bullet Journal on a Budget” blog post. Get a simple dotted notebook, a pencil, ruler, colored pens, and your good to go!
Having a notebook that you bring with you everywhere is helpful to have all your plans all in one spot. It’s more beneficial than having sticky notes all over the place…but hey, if that helps you better go ahead!
Productivity Tip #2: List Top 3 Priorities of the Week
While you are planning on Sunday, list your top 3 priorities of the week. Don’t make too many. I know you want to do so much, but you should be realistic with yourself.
List 3 major tasks that you want to complete and this should be very concrete. For example, for me I have various projects and goals for my non-profit. I am not going to say “Make Resource,” but I will list what specific resource I want to create, for example, “Make Outline for Teen Leaders Guide.” You can be even more specific if possible, such as listing what part of the resource that you want to work on.
Don’t overload yourself with making 5-7 priorities. That will make you feel discouraged when you don’t accomplish them. I know they need to get done, but the reality is that you are limited in your time and energy and focus. When you focus on 3 (or even 2), you can put all your energy on them and do very well on them in a way that you will be content with your work.

Productivity Tip #3: Assign Every Moment of Your Time.
Make a very clear weekly schedule by assigning every hour of your time to some thing. This will help you to always stay focused on what you are doing.
For me, this is why Bullet Journals help so much! I simply make a weekly calendar with every waking hour (see below).
It’s so simple..but so effective!
Why do this?
If you don’t then everything just remains in your head. You can have an idea that you should be doing something, but it’s not so clear so you waste your time on something else.
When it’s very specific and visually presented to you, then you come to know even more how your time is limited and you shouldn’t be wasting it.
Productivity Tip #4: Create Morning, Evening Routines.
Creating morning and evening routines are great productivity tips that will help you start and end your day well.
If not, you will probably start your day unclear of what to do. Or you can end on a bad note, making you feel discouraged and not able to sleep well.
Some things to include in your morning routines: planning for the day, eating breakfast (I know it can be easy to forget), affirmations on who you are, exercising, showering, making your bed, reading your online newspaper, etc. I hope to write another article on this to help you!
Evening routines can include reviewing the day that just passed, planning for the next day, exercising, self-care (like putting on a face mask), reading, etc.
As a Christian, I start my day and end my day spending time with the Lord. I give my first to God through listening to a sermon and praying. I end my day by praying and then reading the Bible. This helps me to tell God all the frustrating and joyful things that went on the day as well as ask for forgiveness in any way that I sinned. As I do this, I truly feel His peace and assurance that He is with me. It’s like taking a bath and getting rid of all the spiritual dirt that only His love can take away. This makes me feel great love and peace to sleep and start off my day well.
This leads me to my next and final productivity tip….
Productivity Tip #5: Entrust Everything to God
Many times our weeks don’t go the way we plan...actually ALL THE TIME.
We make a plan and it often fails so easily. So what to do then? It can make you feel so down on yourself thinking that you are a failure and can’t get anything done.
Don’t listen to that voice! It’s the voice of the Enemy.
What I do is try my best to give everything to God, whether it is good or bad, because even He can use the bad for good. Of course, that does not give me an excuse to sin and waste my time. Actually, knowing the love of Jesus reminds me that I should use my time even better because He loves me and gave me precious time here on earth through His sacrifice on the cross.
We really don’t know when our time will come. So we should use our time here on earth in the best way possible. How? By entrusting our time to God. We make our plans, but He makes the BEST plan…even better than we can imagine! It’s important to also be flexible to how He wants us to use our time. Sometimes it is not how we wanted it to be, but it is always the best!
Pray to Him and ask for His help throughout the week. Ask Him to help you keep your focus.
Entrusting your week to God is the best productivity tip for a productive week that I can give you!
